Kaye Pottie graduated
from Acadia University with a Bachelor of Music degree and from the University
of Western Ontario with a Master of Music degree in Performance and Literature.
She has also studied the Kodaly approach to music education in Hungary.
Kaye Pottie has an intense interest in choral music. She established the
Honour Choir system for the Halifax City schools and conducted the Halifax
Schools' elementary, youth and high school Honour Choirs. She has been
conductor of the Nova Scotia Youth Choir, and is founder of the Chebucto
Community Singers, which she conducted for twenty-six years. Mrs. Pottie
is a founding member of the Helen Creighton Folklore Festival, the Kodaly
Institute of Canada, the Kodaly Society of Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia
Choral Federation and the Nova Scotia Music Educators' Association, the
last four of which have awarded her Honorary Life Memberships.
