Julie Cuming hails originally from Guelph, Ontario. Born into a musical
family, she established herself as a solid horn player by competing
successfully in events such as the Edward Johnson Scholarship Competition.
When she joined the Canadian Forces in 1983 she was posted to the CF School
of Music in Victoria BC to continue her studies. Though Julie spent three
years as principle horn of the Royal Canadian Artillery Band in Montreal,
the majority of her career has been as principle horn in the Stadacona
Band
of Maritime Forces Atlantic. She has also established herself as a
versatile freelancer, working frequently with Symphony Nova Scotia, Nova
Sinfonia, and Horns East, the premier horn quartet of Eastern Canada.
